Quality-Provides optimal care to patients' and family which is collaborative, evidence based and meets national/facility standards to achieve the best possible outcome. Service - Cares for patient/family according to the Sutter Difference standards and activities ensuring the best patient/family experience. Qualifications MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS Education: Must have current American Heart Association BLS-HCP recognition. High School Graduate or GED. Experience : Previous experience in a healthcare environment including patient transportation is desirable. Prior experience/education in Physical/Occupational Therapy related to safe patient transfer, lifting, and/or transport, using wheelchairs or other patient transport/lifting equipment is preferred. Institutional cleaning experience is desired. Knowledge : Familiarity with transport equipment and its safe operation is desirable. Principles of body mechanics. Ability to communicate effectively with patient, family and staff both verbally and in writing. Ability to do basic mathematics. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Knowledge and ability to follow appropriate infection control techniques. Knowledge of proper housekeeping cleaning techniques in a health care setting. Special Skills/Equipment : Good interpersonal communication skills required. Knowledge of basic medical terminology is desired. Must be able to read, speak, and write English. Must be willing and able to learn required tasks (Hoyer lifts, operation of wheelchairs, gurneys, IV poles, oxygen tanks, etc.) through on-the-job training. Attention detail and timeliness is strongly desired. Ability and skills to answer a multi-line telephone. Ability to instruct trainees, volunteers, and new employees in patient transfer techniques and other Patient Escort duties. |
