Clinic Assistant/Health Services Specialist (ME)
The Medical Assistant performs any or all of the following duties in a courteous and professional manner and in accordance with PPMM protocols and/or standards:
Essential Duties:
- Provides direct service in all the clinic specific areas including, family planning, abortion, prenatal, general medicine, pediatrics, as appropriate to scope of services and clinics;
- Provides clients with accurate information regarding PP services, including questions pertaining to contraception, options, and funding sources;
- Prepares clients for exams and assists in exam room when needed;
- Provides pregnancy testing, information and referral, schedules PT clients for follow‑up family planning or other appropriate services;
- In coordination with licensed staff, provides client follow-up on lab results and referrals;
- Screens financial, medical and social history with correct documentation of pertinent information;
- Accurately determines eligibility for funding or private pay;
- Performs lab work and venipuncture;
- Prepares examination room with appropriate supplies for examination and cleans room;
- Solicits donations from clients per PPMM guidelines.
Non Essential Duties:
- Receives and records current charges, payments on accounts, balance due at end of visit, balances cash, reconciles daily log and prepares bank deposits;
- Works at clinic front desk, greets clients politely and promptly and provides client with correct forms;
- Serves as telephone receptionist, make clinic appointments, provides information and appropriate referrals;
- Routes and files incoming laboratory reports appropriately;
- Cleans instruments, exam rooms, lab area, and autoclave as assigned;
- Prepares charts, pull charts, transfers records, file charts;
- Receives and documents incoming supplies; assists with inventory, orders and rotates supplies/forms.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree, or
- Combination of experience and college education equaling 3 years, or
- Graduation from high school in conjunction with a medical assisting certificate
- Bilingual Spanish, Vietnamese or Farsi preferred.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form;
- Ability to learn the duties of a medical assistant;
- Ability to maintain composure under stress;
- Strong customer service orientation.
