| The Judiciary Clerk - Criminal acts as a liaison to collect information from court personnel, attorneys, plaintiffs, and defendants. Receives, examines and records documents. Creates new criminal files, processes jury prayers, indictments, informations, and non-support criminal cases through Uniform Case System (UCS) as well as dockets all pleadings, motions and hearing information. Assists customers on the phone and at the counter. Processes invoices, files, enters services and processes bail bonds. Uses Microsoft Word, Word Perfect and Outlook to complete processes. Performs other essential functions as assigned. Education: High School Diploma or GED. Experience: At least one year of work experience, preferably in court operations, or in the fields of criminal justice, parole, and probation, legal or financial services. Preferred : Knowledge of court proceedings, rules, regulations, court and legal terminology is acquired Note: A Bachelor’s Degree may substitute for the year of work experience. A Paralegal/Associates Degree or 60 college credits may substitute the required year of work experience. A Paralegal Certificate may substitute for the required one year of work experience. Skills/Abilities: Knowledge of office practices, procedures and equipment. Knowledge of standard legal forms and documents used in the Judiciary. Ability to operate a personal computer. Ability to maintain and use detailed filing systems. Ability to operate a cash register. Ability to communicate effectively with the public, court personnel, and staff. Ability to provide information in a polite and efficient manner. Ability to exercise tact in pressure situations. Ability understand and follow complex directions. Ability to exercise judgment in applying appropriate policy, procedure, rule, or regulation to a situation. Ability to perform all of the essential functions of this position.
